COUN 524 - Counseling Children and Adolescents Unit(s): 4 This course provides an overview of the theories and techniques of child and adolescent counseling with a focus on youth development in a socio-cultural context. Counseling interventions used in schools and common concerns of school-aged students are emphasized (including substance abuse). Methods for establishing rapport, goal setting, and case formulation are highlighted. Special emphasis will be placed on applying theory to practice in a developmentally appropriate manner.
