MATH 300A - Elementary Number Systems Unit(s): 3 This course, designed for prospective elementary and middle school teachers, explores numerical ideas underlying the K-8 mathematics curriculum. The emphasis is on understanding the mathematical ideas and procedures, and on representing them in ways that children can understand. Alternative ways of representing and solving problems are encouraged. Problem solving and logical thinking are emphasized throughout.
Prerequisite(s): Completion of GE Golden Four (A1, A2, A3, B4) with a C- or better and completion of B1, B2 and at least 45 units. GE Category: Upper Divison B Typically Offered Fall & Spring Teaching Mode: Face-to-Face Grading: Graded
