Examination of everyday interaction in face-to-face settings. Emphasis will be placed on qualitative approaches to the understanding of identities, social encounters, definitions of situations, social group membership, and human relationships. Particular attention will be given to the work of Erving Goffman and other interactionists.

Prerequisite(s): Course restricted to Sociology majors/minors only
