Examines definitions related to the mind, health, and illness. Identifies definitions related to emotions and behavior and how they become socially and/or institutionally identified as illness. Examines various theories and constructs of mental health and illness through the lens of culture, religion, science, and medicine. Analyzes conceptions of mental health and institutions through the lens of sociological social psychology and social policy.
