ANTH 327 - Archaeology of North America

This course is a broad survey of the regions, periods, and issues relevant to the study of the North American archaeological record. Topics range from the human settlement of the hemisphere, and the many diverse cultural histories of the continent, through the development of key cultural components such as trade and exchange networks, food production systems, and urban societies, to the increasing impact of cultural resource legislation and the views and interests of modern indigenous populations on contemporary archaeological practice. Prerequisite: upper-division standing or consent of instructor. Variable Intermittently
