GEP 327 - Latin America and the Caribbean Unit(s): 4 From an environmental history perspective, the class begins with an investigation of pre-Columbian and post-contact social ecologies. This leads to analysis of more contemporary processes such as rural modernization, the rapid growth of cities and migration, the role of identity and women, and the dynamics of free-trade globalization and international relations.
