JWST 330 - American Jewish Experience Unit(s): 4 The United States has been an extraordinarily hospitable place for Jews, and they quickly came to perceive it as a place unlike any other in the Diaspora. This course introduces students to the major events and issues in American Jewish history, exploring the creation and evolution of the American Jewish community through successive waves of immigration and examining the ways in which these immigrants constructed their American Jewish identities and the reactions of others to their entrance into American life.
