MATH 418 - Topology Unit(s): 4 Topics include definition of a topology, open & closed sets, continuous mappings, subspaces, bases and subbases of a topology, compact topological spaces, separation axioms, connected, path connected, normal spaces, regular spaces, metric spaces, product spaces, and quotient spaces. Will also include homotopy, the fundamental group, and covering spaces as time permits. Theorems include the Urysohn lemma, Tietze Extension Theorem, and the Tychonoff Theorem. Not repeatable for credit.
Grading: OPT Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or better in MATH 340 or consent of instructor. MATH 320 is recommended.
