MATH 300A - Elementary Number Systems Unit(s): 3 This course, designed for prospective elementary and middle school teachers, explores numerical ideas underlying the K-8 mathematics curriculum. The emphasis is on understanding the mathematical ideas and procedures, and on representing them in ways that children can understand. Alternative ways of representing and solving problems are encouraged. Problem solving and logical thinking are emphasized throughout.
Prerequisite(s): Course Prerequisite: Grade of C- or better in any course that meets GE Area B4 (Mathematical Concepts and Quantitative Reasoning), Typically Offered Fall & Spring Grading: OPT
