EDEC 450 - Empowerment and Equity for Children and Families Unit(s): 3 Questions of social justice and equity are fundamental to our understanding, application, and critique of the ways children are raised. This class will explore strategies to support children within the context of their families, school, and community by critically applying theories and research of child development. There is an emphasis on (1) dual language learners and (2) local community resources available to support families, including those that address issues of poverty and violence and the effects of these on children and their families.
