HIST 410 - Early Modern Europe, 1350-1789 Unit(s): 4 This course offers a comparative study of states and society in Western Europe from the Renaissance to the French Revolution. Topics include the persistence of the humanist tradition, European exploration and conquest, religious reform and ideology, the rise of science, and the crisis of culture and social relations. The emphasis in these centuries that shaped the modern world is social and cultural, but political and intellectual issues are also considered in depth.
