LIBS 102 - Self and Sovereignty Unit(s): 9 This course explores how differing governmental structures, political institutions, and conceptions of sovereignty have shaped cultures and individuals throughout American history. Interactions between state and federal governments, between the federal government and tribal Nations, and between the U.S. and global movements will be examined. The impact of these developments on identity and self will be addressed through the study of historical texts, U.S. Supreme Court cases, speeches, and firsthand accounts of marginalized individuals in U.S. history.
