KIN 402 - Exercise Psychology Unit(s): 3 This course explores the psychological determinants influencing physical activity behavior. Through an interdisciplinary approach drawing from kinesiology, psychology, sociology, and related fields, students will examine theories, research findings, and practical applications aimed at fostering the adoption and maintenance of exercise behavior or physical activity practice. Key topics include motivation, self-efficacy, intention, behavior change techniques (BCTs), and environmental influences on physical activity participation. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the complex interplay between individual characteristics, tasks attributes, and broader social contexts and structures in shaping exercise behavior.
Prerequisite(s): Kinesiology majors, upper division standing, and consent of instructor for non-Kinesiology majors. Typically Offered Fall & Spring May Be Repeated No Teaching Mode: Face-to-Face, Hybrid & Online Grading: Graded
