DANC 371 - Contemporary Dance History Unit(s): 3 This course is designed to introduce students to some of the choreographers and dance pioneers that have shaped 20th and 21st century dance. We will broadly explore social and political culture and its influence and significance in concert dance beginning with the turn of the century and ending at the present day. We will investigate race, gender, identity, equity and representation in performance. This course includes an embodied approach to scholarship.
