Early Care and Education Concentration

The Early Care and Education (ECE) Concentration in the Early Childhood Studies Major prepares students to work with children from birth to age 8 in educational settings. This concentration is perfect for students who intend to:

Enroll in a PK-3 ECE Specialist Instruction Credential program (for teaching in public elementary schools, preschool through grade 3)

Enroll in a Multiple Subject Credential program (for teaching in public elementary schools, grades TK-6)
-
Obtain a California Child Development Permit (to teach in or direct a public-funded child care/preschool program)

Teach or direct a private Early Education and Care/preschool program
-
Work in a Social Service agency directly related to preschool/Early Education and Care (such as an early education curriculum coach or a child care rating/licensing agent)
