Sonoma State University, via the Schools of Business and Economics and Extended & International Education, provides a pathway for students to earn a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Management at several North Bay community colleges through the Degree Completion Program (DCP).
Courses are taught by SSU faculty, scheduled evenings and Saturdays. All program courses are online. The program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and is designed specifically for students with work, family or other commitments who are not able to join traditional Business degree programs on the main SSU campus in Rohnert Park.
The DCP program consists of 57 units: 48 upper division units in the major plus 9 units of upper-division general education. Time to completion depends on many factors; advising will be available before and during the program to develop individual completion plans.
- Remaining lower-division general education
- Remaining electives
- How many units can comfortably taken in a semester, depending on individual work and family commitments
- Whether a student is able to take Summer or Winter Intersession courses at Sonoma State
The program is designed to be completed in two years at 12 units per semester if a student has 60 units at transfer, has completed all lower-division GE and is able to take Summer/Winter Intersession. We estimate that part-time students taking 8 units per semester will take about three years to finish their requirements.
Admission into the DCP program requires prior completion of BUS 230A Financial Accounting (4 units), BUS 230B Managerial Accounting (4 units) and BUS 225 Legal Environment of Business (4 units); these 3 courses count towards meeting the number of units required in the major. Although the Business Administration major consists of 60 units (10-course core and 5-course concentration), students in the DCP program will have already completed 3 core courses prior to admission into the program and therefore are only required to complete an additional 48 business units after admission into the DCP program. This is in addition to and separate from the requirement to complete 3 courses (9 units) of upper-division general education courses in the DCP program.
